ASME Calculations

We help customers run ASME calculations of Section VIII pressure vessels, Section I, Section IV boilers and聽B31.1/31.3/31.5 piping.Towers聽are analyzed in PVElite based on seismic and wind load conditions on installation site. Tube and shell heat exchangers are calculated to part UHX of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and TEMA. We also calculate and P. Eng. stamp聽Section VIII, Division 2 designs. We are experienced in high pressure piping calculations and fatigue analysis.

Brief introduction:
This analysis is for a CS tower, 45 feet high. Bottom shell ID is 40″, top shell ID is 28″. Tower is analyzed for both internal pressure and full vacuum conditions. Seismic and wind loads are calculated to NBC-2005. Skirt and basering are included in this analysis. Input details can be found from report.

In this tube and shell heat exchanger design, tubesheets are integral with shell and extended as flanges. Tubesheets are bolted with channel flanges. Tubes are expanded into tubesheets at the ends. Channel sides are made from SS material. CS is used for shell side and tubesshets. SS cladding is on tubesheet at channel side. For input details, please download UHX Calculation Report

Shell side:
Design pressure: 100 psi; design temperature: 212F; mean metal temperature along shell length (assumed): 180F, C.A.: 1/16″.
Tube side:
Design pressure: 300 psi; design temperature: 295F; mean metal temperature along tube length (assumed): 248F; C.A.: 1/16″.

Design code: ASME Section VIII-1, 2007 ED.
MAWP: 150 psi
Design temperature: 200F
MDMT: -20F
Corrosion allowance: 0
Hydrotest pressure: 195 psi

This design can be calculated by code rules. Valve body is calculated as shell with opening verified by UG-37. End flanges are checked by App. 2. For CRN registration purpose, additional documents submitted are:
聽- ISO certificate
聽- Statutory declaration forms

You can save dollars if designs are done to B16.34. Additional calculations are usually not required in this case.

In case that code formulas are not applicable or designs聽do not comply with B16.34 requirements, FEA or proof test is usually requested to obtain CRN.
